Colossus of Roads
- Acrylic on box canvas
- 24 x 18 inches
- £175.00
- An abstract acrylic painting designed to enhance the mood of the viewer as well as being a talking point. A play on words, relating to one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world - The Colossus of Rhodes. Colussus does also mean, aside from a gigantic statue, a "person or thing of immense size or power". The colours I've used are magenta, cadmium red hue, rose madder, blue lake and royal blue in a pearlescent acrylic paint for the junction dots. I also gave the whole painting a wash with white and blue lake prior to painting in the roads etc. The edges of this painting are painted with a 3d acrylic paint in crimson. The painting is very subtle, yet is intricate in its design.
