About Aitch

My name is Helen Davison. I'm an East Yorkshire artist, painting mostly in acrylic and/or acrylic inks on box canvas. My preferred genre of painting is abstract/semi-abstract; although for commission purposes, I'm always willing to consider most subjects and styles. I thoroughly enjoyed painting a recent portrait of Lucky, a black mongrel.

My style is mainly colourful, bold, abstract, but I also love experimenting and learning new methods and skills. To this end, I've now started creating small items on the scroll-saw, mainly to give as gifts, but also to sell. Also, I'm creating art with pyrography, on a small scale to begin with, but it's another interesting way of working. I am eclectic in my tastes, so this is often reflected in my style and output.

I currently have two of my paintings ("Baobab" and "2 Clay Pots" for sale at the Tom Zaw Fine Art Gallery, Hoddesdon, having recently sold another one from there, too - "3 Wise Men and in Interloper". Last summer, two of my zentangle drawings in ink were accepted into the Ferens Open Exhibition, which ran from July - October 2021. One of these sold in that exhibition, namely "Humber Bridge". "Murdoch's Connection", the other entry, is now for sale on my website. Some of my small gifts are available to buy from a shop in Hull called "Soap from the Heart", and I have recently stocked up my Etsy Store, too.

I've sold my paintings worldwide, but in the past couple of years, mostly to buyers and customers in the UK via various shops, galleries, fairs and through social media.
