This contemporary, brightly coloured painting was created using layers of different colours applied with a palette knife to build up the texture. The underpainting is mainly black, which I then covered with arcs of sky blue, cerise, phthalo blue and crimson. The word lambent means, amongst other things, 'softly bright or radiant', which I think suits this painting perfectly. It it painted on a piece of hardboard which has been fixed to a framework of 2x2 timber, making a wooden box framed painting. The edges of the framework have been painted red so that it can be hung as it is without the need for additional framing.
